Firstly, I truly understand what teamwork means from the sweat and determined eyes of my teammates. It means that we work so hard during the training for the same cause. It also means that we would never take a break until the game ends.
Second, “leadership”. I did not know how to be a team leader nor how much pressure a leader has taken in the past. Even now, I could still remember my racing heart before the game started and feel the tension in me. I think this is the major difference between a team leader and a team member. To be specific, a player just needs to focus on himself, whereas a team leader needs to take the whole team into consideration. Not only being an excellent player myself but also thinking over the time, strategy, and other players as a whole. Thus, I began to understand that a good leader must have quick adaptability and strong psychological quality.

In this basketball game, as a basketball captain and MVP winner, I learned a lot from it. I planned my tactics before the game, adjusted my teammates and their mentality. We united, cooperated, and fought for our goals on the court. Our unity and spirit helped us achieve satisfactory results.
There have been many summers in your life, and you have experienced exciting matches. This one prepared and organized by ourselves made this summer and this event particularly unique to us.
From one thought from Andy, to the organizing team’s proposal, to the support from Advisor; from Proposal 1.0 to Proposal 4.0+, Schedule 1.0 to Schedule 4.0+; from design the draft of the invitation to craft every Invitation by hand to every delicately designed product; from the scoreboard to the fancy projecting screen to the Award Ceremony; from organizing rookies and awkward cooperation to sophisticated and responsible organizers. The applause and flowers not only belonged to the court, but also to those of you who have carried the giant ice cubes, who have delivered water bottles, who have been anxious about the microphone, who have found the perfect music and made the awesome slides, etc.

The coronavirus kept us at home for three months, our body shape and physical fitness have undergone subtle changes, so doing some aerobic excises can not only improve our physical health, but also relax the pressure of high school study. That’s the reason we held the match. Through organizing this basketball game, I spot many skills that I have huge potential to improve, such as organization, responsibility, and execution. I have learned the importance of teamwork and communication. Most of all, I am very grateful that I have a group of friends who gave 100 percent support to my idea, this game could not be held successfully without them.
Brian
As one of the organizers of this basketball competition, my main jobs were connecting with the players, such as organizing players, confirming player lists and informing game schedule and voting mechanism. During the preparation,I think the most difficult thing was to convey the message to players. What often happened was that I could’t get in touch with players in time or there are some players who were not notified properly. In order to complete my task were efficiently, I realized that I have to confirm that all players have received my message accurately rather than just passing through the information.

I’m so glad to be one of the organizers of this event. As the ‘creative director‘of this event, I want to express my appreciation to the school, which provided us with such a great platform and teachers and students who trusted me and supported me. Also, my special thanks go to my homeroom teacher Mr. Joseph, who gave me a chance to motivate and challenge myself and played an important role in this activity in all aspects. The inspiration of the invitation came from the basketball hoop, and the practical function of using it as a fan is definitely the soul of the whole design. To be more coherent to the theme, I decided to design the post in American street graffiti style and truly wish that players can outdo themselves in the vibe and occupy a place in the history of SUIS.
Gianni
Not very long ago, I was elected as the host of the Senior Graduation Ceremony. As the host, the only thing I was required to do was practicing my speech because everything else had been prepared. During the process of organizing this event, I came to an understanding of the complicity of organizing. Being one of the organizers, I oversaw the volunteer part of the event. It sounded easy but there were so much more in addition to simply find volunteers. I formulated a table with every detail of the five “W”, Who, When, Where, Which person, and What. Then, I informed every volunteer multiple times with each of their duty.
Moreover, as the person in charge, I thought of that things might go wrong or hard to solve in advance and discussed with volunteers. All these works served their purposes which was to make sure things run smoothly. On the shallow side, organizing this event brought me with the honor and glory but what I cherish the most was actually the progressions I have made during the process. On the last note, at the end of the event, the overwhelming senses of joy and satisfaction have washed all the weariness away.

Thanks Note

During the process of guiding our organizing team and watching the exciting match, I have noticed the importance of teamwork. Team A-Level won the game with their strategic team work and amazing cooperation. Even as a non-basketball fanatic myself, I felt the rush and excitement whenever there were assists and goals were scored. Congratulations to Team A-Level. I am sure every member of the audience there felt the power of team-work as well. Even though our Team AP lost this match, they must have gained friendship and much more from it. Also, their team showed us the Spirit of Sport. These two amazing teams together have presented us with a visual feast.
The other team that caught my attention was Team SUIS. Everyone in the organizing committee knew that the event cannot happen without the help and support from our “players” in Team SUIS. On behalf of our committee team, I would like to thank “player” Mr. Leonard and Mr. Jim for being our referees, thank the “players” from our logistics department, Mr. Ma, Mr. Yang, and Mr. Yu for their great support, and thank our amazing “player” Alice for recording the great moments and highlights of the event. We appreciated the immense help we received from Ms. Hannah and Ms. Jackie. The full-support that we got from our HS “player” Joint Director Zettie and of course the coach of Team SUIS Principal David Young were also critical to us. Mr. Young’s encouragement and support throughout the preparation have carried us to the end. Everyone in Team SUIS who has contributed and supported the event was the cornerstone of what we could accomplish.
The last team that I want to recognize is our organizing team which consisted of Andy Wu, Gianni Zhang, Alvin Shan, Brain Xiang, Andrew Jin, and Leo Zhang. When Andy Wu first came to me, like two or three weeks ago, with the idea of hosting a basketball event. He was just a regular student with limited experience of organizing an event but he was fulfilled with passion and motivation, which were so thick and almost contagious and I was affected right away. I knew it would not be easy to organize such an event since our organizers were all newbies for it. Well, wasn’t this the exact reason why I was there? To teach, guide them, and make sure they don’t mess things up were my responsibilities. The process was challenging, but the results were absolutely rewarding and fruitful. As an educator, the most important and valuable thing that could happen to me is seeing students improve and glow with my help. I have experienced and witnessed the tremendous progressions were made among these students. From not knowing what to do, to countless discussions, to several rehearsals, and to the actual event. They have always worked as a team and tackled every problem. I am proud to say that what they have achieved is meaningful and remarkable. They have practiced their communicating, organizing, and team-work skills, and these traits are the keys to the event. I am sure this unique experience has planted a seed inside of these young minds. With proper nourishment, the seed will blossom and lead to grand success.
The event has officially come to an end but it is actually the start of more fascinating events to be organized and offered.
